We're Different. We Promise.

Lakes Area Realty is a professional full-service brokerage of expert and talented Realtors® who believe in individual spirit, creativity, and building a strong sense of community. By pooling our range of talents, sharing industry resources and also a variety of innovative strategies for staging, marketing and negotiating, we've created a uniquely collaborative company to give our clients an exceptional experience.

At Lakes Area Realty, we know real estate is about people. With integrity, honesty and hard work at the core of every transaction, everything we do is based on how it benefits our client.

We've never been about being the biggest. We're about going the extra mile while making a personal connection. In a world filled with real estate mega-mergers and large corporations, we're proud to be a successful, locally owned brokerage that can run with the big box agencies. That means we offer state-of-the-art technology, and all the other bells and whistles, while paying attention to what really matters: You.

Locally Owned. Community Focused.

In 1993, Steve Havig, a Vietnam Veteran, and his wife, Terri, a former teacher, created the legendary Isles Bun and Coffee Shop under the black and yellow awnings at 28th and Hennepin in Uptown Minneapolis. During their ownership of the bakery, they established long-lasting friendships and strong community partnerships. Those relationships became the rock-solid foundation of Lakes Area Realty.

Today, Steve is the Broker/Owner of several Lakes Area Realty offices that span the Twin Cities Metro, Greater Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. Giving back to the community has always been important to Lakes Area Realty, which is why we have been involved in countless philanthropic activities over the years. One of Steve's favorites is Housing First Minnesota, which supports the building of transitional homes for veterans.

In 2021, Lakes Area Realty celebrated its 25th anniversary. We are grateful to the many clients who rely on us with what is one of their largest financial decisions-- owning a home.
